Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and driven Mechanical and Plumbing Estimator / Kalkulator:in based in Frankfurt, Germany, to support prominent Life Sciences and Data Center projects. The role entails developing detailed conceptual budgets, quantifying construction documents accurately, and delivering precise cost estimates from early designs through construction phases. Responsibilities include preparing independent financial analyses, bid proposals, and finding opportunities for Value Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Estimate and budget mechanical and plumbing systems, interpreting technical design documents and coordinating with other MEP systems such as HVAC, electrical, fire alarm, and control systems.
• Serve as a subject matter expert ensuring accurate cost estimation and scope definition for mechanical and plumbing disciplines.
• Lead communication with MEP subcontractors, internal teams, vendors, owners, and consultants, aligning on project estimates and scope.
• Collaborate with preconstruction teams for value management, risk mitigation, and integration of MEP estimates into overall project budgets.
• Manage trade partner tendering, procurement strategies, contract negotiation, and bid package preparation with market insight.
• Coordinate with design teams to clarify project intent, identify potential design gaps, and develop strategies to support project success.

Requirements

• Completed apprenticeship or relevant engineering degree.
• Fluency in both German and English.
• Minimum of five years practical experience in mechanical and plumbing cost estimation within technology or life sciences sectors, including data centers and pharmaceutical projects.
• Familiarity with local norms and standards.
• Proficiency in construction cost estimating software, mass calculations, CAD, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong problem-solving ability with attention to detail, structured work habits, and the capacity to function both independently and collaboratively across an EU-wide team.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting cost information and managing multiple preconstruction deadlines effectively.
