Estimator - MEP

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage comprehensive cost estimates and detailed quantity takeoffs for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems on moderately complex projects.
• Carefully review project drawings, specifications, and addenda to determine technical scope, identify possible conflicts, and develop bid tabs and scope summaries highlighting assumptions, risks, opportunities, and recommendations for internal and client review.
• Conduct cost and value analyses to aid informed design development and decision-making.
• Engage with trade partners to acquire, evaluate, and clarify bids and MEP scope proposals.
• Participate in constructability and value engineering reviews focusing on the integration and design of systems.
• Support the development and upkeep of cost databases and estimating tools specific to MEP works and provide mentorship to Senior Preconstruction Engineers regarding takeoffs, scope evaluations, and estimating methodologies.
• Collaborate with project and estimating teams to confirm that MEP estimates reflect overall project budgets and strategies.
• Coordinate with scheduling, operations, and design teams to ensure logistical, phasing, and sequencing assumptions are accurately incorporated into MEP pricing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering, construction management, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Between 4 and 6 years of professional experience in MEP estimating, design-build coordination, or related areas.
• No certifications or licenses are mandatory.
