Job description
About the Role
At DPR Construction, an Estimator plays a vital role in delivering precise and thorough project cost estimates that support effective project planning, bidding, and execution efforts. The position requires a proactive mindset focused on ownership of results, fostering trust, communication, and collaboration among team members and stakeholders. Success here is measured not only by the projects built but also by how the organization builds relationships and values integrity and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed cost estimates for moderately complex construction projects, accounting for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor expenses throughout all phases from concept to final pricing.
- Gather and analyze production data to align project scopes and integrate inputs from related company divisions such as Specialized Project Work (SPW), Prefabrication (Prefab), and DPR Building Company (DBC).
- Examine project drawings, technical specifications, and contract documents to identify scope elements, cost risks, and potential savings.
- Collaborate with Preconstruction Coordinators, project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to assemble comprehensive bid packages and clarify bidding details.
- Assess market trends, supplier pricing, and historical cost data to refine estimates and evaluate risks.
- Participate in value engineering by recommending alternative materials or construction methods to enhance project value and efficiency.
- Support thorough documentation of estimates including assumptions, qualifications, and clarifications to ensure transparency and alignment with project goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Four to six years of relevant experience in estimating, cost analysis, project controls, or a closely related field.
- No mandatory certifications or licenses required.
Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated starting salary ranges from $125,000 to $175,000 annually. DPR prioritizes employee health and wellness by offering a range of medical, dental, vision, and wellness benefits designed to support well-being.
