Key Responsibilities
- Forecast and relay engineering, materials, and manufacturing needs to suppliers under direct supervision, aiding outsourcing decisions by conducting make-versus-buy analyses and optimizing demand via MRP to reduce inventory risks.
- Engage with the Materials Core Team to oversee product development deliverables alongside buyers, planners, and production controllers.
- Assist in crafting, issuing, and updating strategies related to new project materials.
- Contribute to commercialization plans related to material transitions and manage material change controls.
- Support supplier negotiations regarding pricing and delivery, sometimes leading contract discussions under supervision; adopt preferred supplier selection and assessment methods, execute supplier risk evaluations, and monitor supplier performance concerning quality, cost, and delivery timelines.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to pinpoint critical and long-lead parts and define inspection criteria; aid in developing supplier and commodity roadmaps.
- Strive to meet cost targets and resolve quality-related issues; establish and track Key Process Indicators and total landed cost objectives.
- Apply value analysis to build-to-print components to support Should Cost analysis and mediate supplier quality issues for assigned products.
