Overview
We are on the lookout for an experienced and service-driven Security Manager to oversee all facets of security, safety, and loss prevention at our luxury hotel. This pivotal position involves protecting guests, employees, assets, and our brand's reputation by maintaining a discreet yet effective security presence that aligns with international luxury hotel standards.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- At least two years’ experience as a Security Manager, ideally with luxury or five-star hotels.
- Thorough knowledge of hotel security protocols including guest safety, VIP protection, thorough investigations, emergency response, loss prevention, and crisis management.
- Strong connections within Kenya's security landscape, including law enforcement, emergency services, private security, intelligence circles, and regulatory authorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to liaise confidently with guests, leadership, government bodies, and frontline staff.
- Ability to maintain a balance between firm security enforcement and guest-oriented service without compromising luxury experience.
- Leadership qualities with experience in mentoring and motivating security team members to uphold professionalism and vigilance.
- High ethical standards, sound judgment, discretion, and composure in high-pressure scenarios.
- Clear understanding of Kenyan security laws, hotel licensing, and compliance requirements.
- Experience with global brand standards, audits, and corporate reporting is advantageous, especially within Hyatt Hotels Corporation.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the Security Department ensuring round-the-clock protection of all stakeholders and assets.
- Develop and enforce clear operational standards and procedures aligned with luxury hospitality and global brand mandates.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and enforce preventive security measures.
- Maintain visible but unobtrusive security presence to instill guest confidence.
- Handle sensitive guest incidents with professionalism and discretion.
- Oversee emergency preparedness drills and response activities including fire safety and medical emergencies.
- Build and maintain robust relations with police, intelligence agencies, emergency responders, and private security firms.
- Be the main liaison for security matters with external authorities.
- Ensure full adherence to local laws, regulations, and corporate security policies.
- Lead investigations into security incidents producing clear and timely documentation.
- Support audits, brand compliance checks, and insurance queries.
- Recruit, train, and continually develop a professional security team dedicated to luxury service standards.
- Deliver ongoing training around security awareness, guest interactions, emergency procedures, and loss prevention strategies.
- Prepare incident reports, trend analyses, and risk evaluations for senior management.
- Identify potential security risks proactively and recommend strategic enhancements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of two years’ managerial experience in hotel security, preferably in a luxury or five-star setting.
- Formal security management, risk, or law enforcement certification is beneficial.
- Proficient with hotel security technologies such as CCTV, access controls, and alarms.
- Experience in international hotel brands preferred; prior employment with Hyatt Hotels Corporation is a distinct advantage.
