Team Overview

The Packaging Organization at Silicon Labs focuses on leveraging, assessing, and procuring industry technologies that enable the design and creation of semiconductor packages, thereby driving product growth and market presence. This team pushes packaging technology forward through innovative research and development initiatives and strong collaborations with leading manufacturing partners. Their mission is to excel in package procurement execution and deliver high-performance differentiation in the industry.

Role Summary

As a Manufacturing Engineer, your primary responsibilities include supporting the Manufacturing Technology team across various functions, particularly during New Product Introductions (NPIs) and production qualifications that are vital to product launch timing and operational stability. You will gain exposure and practical experience in Assembly/Package Engineering, Reliability Engineering, and Failure Analysis, assisting with tasks across these areas and learning the multiple facets within the Manufacturing Technology group.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Assembly and Module NPIs and programs for second sourcing.
• Collaborate with Contract Manufacturers (CMs) and Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) partners to identify and source new materials.
• Investigate new Bills of Materials (BOM) directly with material vendors, as needed by products.
• Record and maintain documentation of results within internal systems.
• Participate in design reviews, working alongside Package Engineering to support these activities with foundational knowledge of design rules.
• Coordinate with internal teams on approving design files received from CMs and OSATs.
• Document design and BOM approval processes thoroughly.
• Manage Engineering Builds to Qualification by initiating build requests and ensuring proper documentation of reports in the system.
• Support the Reliability Lab by assisting Reliability Engineering activities, overseeing chamber operations, equipment maintenance, and calibration scheduling.
• Monitor and document the progress of qualification lots.
• Provide assistance in Failure Analysis by working with the Device Analysis team to address qualification-related failures.
• Ensure effective communication and collaboration between teams for smooth process transitions.
• Develop tracking systems, process workflows, and documentation standards for managing failed units.

Qualifications and Skills

• Possess a Diploma in any engineering-related discipline.
• Have a minimum of two years’ experience in Assembly Manufacturing or working in a Reliability Lab environment.
• Demonstrate strong communication skills.
• Familiarity with reliability equipment, bond diagrams, and assembly materials.
