About the Role
The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) is driving Singapore’s ambition to establish itself as a leading Digital Economy, supporting industries and workforce to utilize digital technologies for expansion and innovation. The BizTech Group (BTG) within IMDA leads efforts in promoting adoption of advanced technologies such as AI and data analytics, 5G/6G communications, Quantum Communications and Digital Trust. The group facilitates innovation via partnerships, technology trials, R&D initiatives, and developing products tailored to specific sectors. This role within the Tech Policy team focuses on crafting policies and strategies to enhance economic growth, digital infrastructure, resilience, and sovereignty.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance and support regarding technology-related policy matters and developments.
- Formulate insightful thought leadership and policy frameworks to steer technology strategy.
- Conduct comprehensive research and evaluations on technology policies, assessing their impacts on various stakeholders.
- Devise strategic approaches for adopting emerging technologies in alignment with research findings.
- Ensure that IMDA’s activities correspond with national priorities, facilitating collaboration across government bodies.
- Identify and engage with pertinent international forums and partners to enhance IMDA's influence globally.
- Maintain active engagement with critical external stakeholders on prevalent technology policy topics.
Deliverables
- Create strategic analytical papers and policy positions across BTG’s technology domains such as AI, quantum technologies, 5G/6G, trust technologies and environmentally sustainable ICT solutions.
- Provide timely intelligence and insights concerning technology policy trends and pivotal developments.
- Develop compelling narratives to underpin and champion BTG initiatives.
- Secure necessary resources to support BTG’s strategic priorities and growth objectives.
Candidate Profile
- Genuine enthusiasm for shaping policies and strategies around rapidly evolving technologies including quantum communications, 6G, and AI, with the capacity to manage ambiguous and complex problem areas.
- Preferably some background working with technology teams in policy formulation, research, or engineering.
- Strategic mindset combined with a strong collaborative team spirit.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Proven skills in managing stakeholders effectively, including local and international partners.
- Experience in international or industry contexts and familiarity with Singapore Government operations are advantageous.
