Manager - Project and Programme Risk

Job Overview

This position focuses on proactively identifying, analyzing, mitigating, and monitoring risks associated with project cost, schedule, quality, safety, procurement, and delivery practices. It endorses structured risk evaluations, encourages collaboration among stakeholders, and ensures adherence to organizational risk management guidelines for successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Continuously identify, evaluate, and track risks throughout all stages of the project lifecycle.
• Maintain and update comprehensive Project, Program, and PMC Risk Registers.
• Organize and lead regular risk review sessions involving clients, PMC teams, consultants, and contractors.
• Precisely articulate risks and challenges, escalating urgent matters promptly to senior management.
• Develop and monitor execution of risk mitigation and response plans.
• Deliver periodic reports highlighting significant risks, trends, and effectiveness of risk controls.
• Assist in formulating risk probability and impact assessment matrices.
• Contribute to identifying risks tied to cost, timeline, quality, safety, and procurement.
• Provide risk-related insights during pre-construction, design, procurement, and construction phases.
• Review contracts, procurement strategies, and delivery methods to identify potential risks.
• Help evaluate risks linked to various project delivery models such as lump sum, cost-plus, and target cost.
• Participate in client, consultant, and contractor meetings to address risk-related concerns.
• Update and manage risk data in authorized risk management tools and systems.
• Ensure strict compliance with quality, environmental, safety, and occupational health policies.
• Perform additional tasks assigned by the Line Manager.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Certified Risk Management Professional (RMP) or equivalent credential.
• Over 15 years of experience in engineering or project management, including a specialized risk management role on large-scale infrastructure or mega projects.
• Practical knowledge of project controls, cost management, scheduling, contracts, and claims associated with risk assessment.
• Proven ability to identify and manage risks related to cost, schedule, quality, and safety.
• Familiar with risk management software and databases, such as Active Risk Manager or similar tools.
• Understanding of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) principles and their application at the project level.
• Strong analytical, coordination, and facilitation capabilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for interfacing with clients and consultants.
• Capacity to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
