Lead IT Infrastructure Engineer

Job Overview

The Lead IT Infrastructure Engineer serves as a pivotal figure within the IT Project Delivery team, tasked with comprehensive ownership of the infrastructure domain across various projects. This senior technical role mandates ensuring that all infrastructure solutions are meticulously designed, validated, and implemented adhering to organizational policies, project-specific requirements, and governance standards. Operating with significant autonomy, the incumbent will provide expert technical guidance, oversee design quality, and manage vendor engagements to assure complete, compliant infrastructure deliverables ready for handoff.

Key Responsibilities

• Function as the principal authority for infrastructure decisions within designated projects, overseeing validations and resultant outcomes.
• Lead infrastructure-related activities through all project stages including design, implementation, verification, and closure, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical standards.
• Proactively identify project risks, enforce corrective measures, and guarantee timely delivery according to milestones and quality standards.
• Maintain governance over vendors and system integrators, thoroughly reviewing and approving their technical outputs and ensuring they fulfill contractual and quality obligations.
• Conduct design reviews of architectures, high-level and low-level designs to ensure consistency, completeness, and conformity with standards, while identifying and resolving design issues.
• Coordinate efforts across infrastructure, applications, and security teams to assure integration readiness and manage project interdependencies.
• Confirm that all infrastructure deliverables are finalized, properly documented, and transferred effectively to operational teams with full knowledge transfer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related discipline.
• Over 15 years of experience specializing in IT infrastructure, particularly in leading infrastructure delivery in complex, large-scale projects.

Technical Expertise

• Comprehensive knowledge of network design including routing, switching, and security configurations.
• Hands-on experience with systems, virtualization, and enterprise-level infrastructure platforms.
• Sound understanding of infrastructure design principles, cross-system integration dependencies, and security segmentation.

Leadership and Governance

• Demonstrated ability to independently manage infrastructure scopes and deliver results in significant projects.
• Experienced in vendor management with a strong emphasis on delivery quality assurance.
• Proficient in design validation processes and enforcing industry standards, with awareness of cybersecurity and regulatory compliance frameworks.

Soft Skills

• High leadership competence paired with decisive decision-making skills.
• Capability to engage constructively with vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Strong sense of accountability and ownership.

Preferred Experience

• Exposure to managing critical or large-scale infrastructure environments.
