About the Role
The Media Policy and Content (MPC) group at IMDA ensures that media content policies and regulations evolve in tandem with changing media consumption trends, advancements in digital technology, and societal values. The goal is to promote social cohesion and protect the public interest. The MPC group encompasses both the Strategic Policy & Operations Cluster and Content & Standards divisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute initiatives to fortify telecommunications and media platforms against scam activities.
- Design and manage proposals, grants, or programs to assist the industry in enhancing its ability to detect and disable scam operations.
- Collaborate with industry stakeholders to identify innovative methods and technologies to combat scams.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of policy and regulatory issues related to scams in telecom and media sectors, gathering diverse insights from internal and external stakeholders to formulate strong policy recommendations.
- Coordinate closely with government agencies and industry players to ensure effective application of preventive measures against scam calls and messages.
- Advise internal business units on existing policy stances and emerging policy work in telecom and media areas associated with scams.
Candidate Profile
- Educational background in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or Public Policy; other fields may also be considered.
- Comprehensive understanding of online threats and scams within the telecom and media sectors, including technological, market, regulatory aspects, digital economy, business and consumer issues, Singapore's socio-economic context, and international policy trends.
- Strong analytical skills to assess complex issues.
- Excellent proficiency in both written and verbal communication.
- Outstanding presentation capabilities.
- Resourceful and self-driven individual with a proactive mindset, balancing analytical and creative thinking.
- Focus on results and stakeholder engagement, with the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within teams, participating in cross-team initiatives.
