About Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB)
The Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), operating under the Ministry of Trade and Industry, spearheads strategies to bolster Singapore's status as a global hub for business, innovation, and talent. The agency promotes investments and industry growth by facilitating connections, offering insights, and providing access to government incentives for both international and local companies. Its overarching goal is to foster sustainable economic expansion and create valuable job opportunities within Singapore.
About the Environmental Sustainability Division
This division leads Singapore's transition towards a low-carbon economy, harnessing environmental sustainability trends as catalysts for economic growth. It crafts and implements national and ecosystem-level strategies to enhance Singapore's competitiveness across the energy, chemicals, and materials sectors, while uncovering fresh opportunities in emerging green industries. Collaborations with internal teams and external government and industry partners support research, analysis, and development of solutions.
Role Overview
As an individual contributor reporting to the Vice President or Assistant Vice President, you will help develop emerging sustainable growth sectors, with a focus on the Bioeconomy. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Constantly monitor global trends, technologies, and business models in green growth to identify and prioritize new opportunities for Singapore.
- Conduct thorough industry analyses to evaluate market size, growth prospects, value chain dynamics, Singapore’s ecosystem strengths, and competitive positioning.
- Formulate and recommend strategies and interventions to establish Singapore as a leader in the Bioeconomy, collaborating with EDB teams and government agencies to design value propositions and coordinate sector development.
- Engage with established companies and startups to collect market intelligence and initiate investment promotion activities.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, aligning priorities and supporting senior management in key meetings.
Candidate Profile
- Academic background preferably in Economics, Environmental Science, Sustainability Management, or related interdisciplinary fields.
- At least two years of relevant work experience in strategy, consulting, investment, or business/project development.
- Strong eye for detail and ability to independently manage programs.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, critical, and lateral thinking skills.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
- Capability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and projects to deliver results efficiently.
- Self-driven, positive mindset, strong work ethic, and team-oriented attitude.
- Singaporean citizenship is required.
