Job description
Role Overview
Join a thriving property industry company as a Management Accountant responsible for managing daily financial records and transactions across three trading company entities. This essential position ensures accurate maintenance of accounts, supporting the firm's financial stability and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the company ledgers including all necessary postings.
- Prepare financial reports through to the trial balance and, if suitable, monthly management accounts.
- Handle monthly payroll preparations.
- Collaborate closely with commercial teams to supply timely and precise trading data.
- Prepare and submit HMRC reports, notably VAT and CIS returns.
- Continuously assess and update accounting procedures to ensure efficiency.
- Perform bank reconciliations, oversee credit control, and forecast cash flow.
Required Experience and Skills
- Suitable for candidates with experience and practical qualification in accounting.
- Proven track record in a similar accounting role.
- Proficient in interpreting financial statements and offering insightful commentary.
- Ability to multitask proactively and adapt to varied tasks.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Composed demeanor capable of meeting deadlines and adjusting to evolving role demands.
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with colleagues and external contacts professionally.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel and Word.
- Experience working with Xero and/or QuickBooks accounting software.
- Familiarity with the construction sector, including CIS taxation and domestic reverse VAT charge, is advantageous.
