About the Role
Join ibis Budget Auckland Central, situated near Queen Street in central Auckland, a vibrant hotel popular with business travelers, guests, and extended stay residents. The hotel features 144 rooms over 18 floors with balconies and kitchenettes. We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our team and support daily maintenance needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Hotel Manager to conduct maintenance work safely on building structures, plant equipment, fixtures, and fittings to preserve assets and maintain a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for guests, staff, contractors, and visitors.
- Coordinate with the Hotel Manager regarding repairs in guest rooms and public areas to minimize downtime and restore facilities promptly.
- Strive to complete maintenance requests within 15 minutes of receipt whenever possible.
- Provide updates to the Manager on Duty or Front Office on the status of guest-related maintenance jobs, reporting completions or delays.
- Recommend service or procedural improvements and report any system or service issues promptly to the Hotel Manager.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of one year of experience in maintenance or similar roles; hospitality or tourism industry experience is a plus but not mandatory.
- Trade certifications preferred but not compulsory.
- Familiarity with building compliance, risk management, and a commitment to environmental sustainability.
- A practical, hands-on approach is essential; this is not a clerical role.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with logical and resourceful thinking.
- Responsible, motivated, proactive, and consistently positive team member.
- Eligibility to work in New Zealand is required.
