Role Overview

The Maintenance Technician role involves supporting skilled technicians in conducting all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, servicing, fault diagnosis, and repairs on equipment, vehicles, and plant maintained by various Dnata technical services workshops. This also includes maintaining cleanliness and managing ad hoc tasks as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

• Organize and plan daily individual work tasks within assigned areas.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper organization of workshops and work areas, ensuring care of tools.
• Assist in effective diagnosis and repair of faults or defects on equipment, vehicles, or plants during breakdowns to minimize downtime.
• Record all shift-related maintenance activities in log books or work orders to enable accurate documentation in the Maintenance Management System.
• Adhere strictly to safety procedures during maintenance to prevent injury or damage to personnel and equipment.
• Report spare parts and tool requirements to Maintenance or Senior Technicians to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.
• Support scheduled maintenance tasks following standards including manufacturers' recommendations, ISO certifications, safety protocols, and legal regulations to optimize equipment usage.
• Assist daily inspections of all equipment, vehicles, and plants to assess operational safety and reliability, aiding preventative maintenance planning and accident prevention.
• Help maintain and repair Ground Power Units (GPU) and Preconditioned Air (PCA) units up to acceptable standards.
• Operate access equipment and forklifts as needed to assist maintenance operations.
• Operate and upkeep neutralization plants.

Qualifications and Experience

• Completion of 10 years of schooling or equivalent educational background.
• At least 2 years of hands-on maintenance experience in facilities, automotive, or electrical/mechanical fields within large maintenance organizations, preferably in aviation ground support or cargo handling industries.
• Experience specifically in ground support equipment maintenance.
• Completed a 2-year trade certificate in an engineering discipline.
• Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, electronic, automobile, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems of light vehicles or material handling equipment.
• Advantageous to have experience with heavy vehicles and specialized training in hydraulics, lifting equipment, conveyor systems, or material handling machinery.
• Knowledge of PLCs, AC/DC motor control systems, traction batteries, and chargers is beneficial.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Possession of a valid UAE or home country driving license (not mandatory for cargo area roles).
• Certification to operate equipment (ADP) unless working in cargo areas.
• Understanding of Ministry of Environment, EASA, and GCAA regulations and safety standards relevant to Unit Load Devices (ULD).
• Workshop experience is applicable for ULD section personnel.

Health, Safety and Environment Considerations

• This is a safety-sensitive position requiring working at heights.
• Involves heavy lifting and operation in areas with motorized mobile equipment.
• May include working in confined spaces and exposure to contamination from humans, animals, or chemicals.
• Potential exposure to dangerous goods, loud noise environments, and contact with sharp or moving/falling objects.
• Possession of an airport driving permit is required.
