Overview
Amentum is seeking a Maintenance Planner and Scheduler based in Alice Springs to play a pivotal role in ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable maintenance operations. This position involves close collaboration with maintenance teams, operational stakeholders, and clients to plan, coordinate, and schedule maintenance activities to optimize workforce productivity, asset uptime, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, plan, and schedule various maintenance tasks—including preventative, predictive, corrective, and reactive work—using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring alignment with operational priorities and contractual obligations.
- Create integrated maintenance schedules that guarantee appropriate resources, materials, permits, and access requisites are arranged for timely and safe job completion.
- Prioritize and coordinate maintenance workloads by balancing resource availability, operational needs, and maintenance priorities to maximize productivity and asset availability.
- Support coordination of shutdowns, outages, and major maintenance events, ensuring availability of labor, materials, permits, equipment, and access to enable effective execution.
- Administer work orders and scheduling activities within the CMMS, keeping maintenance and asset data accurate and reliable.
- Work collaboratively with maintenance supervisors, operational teams, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication and alignment in planning.
- Lead planning and scheduling meetings fostering teamwork, accountability, and commitment across multidisciplinary teams.
- Track schedule compliance, backlog, resource utilization, and other critical KPIs, identifying trends and opportunities for improving maintenance performance.
- Analyze maintenance and operational data to drive reliability improvements and optimize maintenance delivery for informed decision-making.
- Champion continuous improvement by enhancing planning processes, work order management, and CMMS utilization.
Candidate Profile
- Proven maintenance planning and scheduling experience in industrial, facilities, infrastructure, utilities, defense, aviation, manufacturing, or similar sectors.
- Familiarity with CMMS software such as SAP PM, Pronto, Maximo, or equivalents.
- Trade, engineering qualification, or comparable credentials are advantageous.
- Strong grasp of various maintenance practices including preventative, predictive, corrective, and reactive methodologies.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple work streams, priorities, and stakeholders in dynamic operational environments.
- Experience in developing and overseeing maintenance schedules, work orders, and resource allocation plans.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving aptitude for interpreting maintenance and performance metrics.
- Effective communication skills coupled with strong stakeholder engagement capabilities.

Additional Employment Conditions
Employment requires obtaining and maintaining appropriate security and medical clearances. The minimum is an NV1 level clearance, though a Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) Australian Department of Defence Security Clearance or equivalent TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph (U.S.) is preferred.
