Maintenance Engineer

Job Overview

The Maintenance Engineer is entrusted with overseeing a dedicated in-house team of technicians and coordinating with external vendors to ensure that Americana Restaurants, Commissaries, and Head/Regional offices adhere strictly to global standards in areas such as Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP), general upkeep, branding consistency, compliance, and health & safety protocols. This role serves as the primary liaison for the Regional Operations team, assuring exceptional customer service and adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLA). The Engineer will also receive New Store Openings (NSO) handovers from the Construction team, enforcing Head Office benchmarks to maintain restaurant quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage reactive complaints and planned preventive maintenance (PPM), ensuring technician and vendor response times comply with Americana Maintenance SLAs and KPIs.
• Ensure completion and monitoring of PPM work orders within set SLA and compliance parameters.
• Maintain excellent customer and stakeholder relationships, acting as the direct point of contact for the Operations team during restaurant hours.
• Liaise effectively with stakeholders including Supply Chain, Finance, and Landlord Management.
• Oversee execution of the annual Capital Expenditure (Capex) plan, including technical reporting, request for proposal (RFP) processes, project execution, and progress reporting.
• Manage Operating Expenditure (OPEX) budgets monthly and yearly, ensuring expenditures remain within limits.
• Reduce reliance on external vendors by resolving maintenance issues in-house and implementing spares replacement only when necessary; advise supervisors on major repairs or modifications.
• Support energy conservation and sustainability efforts by contributing to initiatives involving IoT projects, smart thermostats, resource consumption monitoring, and renewable energy installations such as solar panels.
• Lead, schedule, and train the maintenance team of technicians and external vendors, including organizing internal and external training sessions, shift planning, and prioritization.
• Commit to personal professional development by attending relevant courses and leveraging digital technologies to manage the volume of reactive and preventive maintenance work orders efficiently.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
• Possess 5 to 7 years of comprehensive experience in restaurant maintenance operations.
• Strong hands-on and supervisory expertise with kitchen equipment and MEP systems.
• Thorough familiarity with UAE regulatory authorities, malls, and landlord requirements.
• Proficient communication skills in English; Arabic language ability is considered a significant advantage.
• Competency with Field Management Systems, Microsoft Office, Computer-Aided Facility Management (CAFM) software, and IoT-based applications.
