Job description
About the Role
Join Star Construction, LLC as a Locator I, where your primary responsibility will be accurately identifying and marking underground utilities using flags and paint to ensure safety and efficiency on project sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate specialized detection tools to locate underground utilities, consulting experienced locators as needed
- Interpret utility maps to accurately identify underground utility locations
- Maintain thorough documentation of all utility locates performed
- Respond quickly and professionally to excavation notifications
- Communicate effectively with excavators, utility company representatives, and internal staff
- Conduct light digging with a shovel when required
- Be available for overtime, travel, and on-call or after-hours duties as necessary
- Carry out job functions in varying weather conditions
Qualifications and Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Authorized to work legally in the United States for this employer
- Hold a High School Diploma, GED, or possess equivalent relevant work experience
- Possess a valid non-provisional state driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Frequently work independently in remote locations and perform tasks requiring arm movements above shoulder level
- Operate vehicles and perform activities necessitating fine hand motions, bending, stooping, standing, walking, lifting up to 55 pounds, and computer use
- Occasional use of portable ladders, confined spaces, and stair climbing
