Linux Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a Linux Engineer specializing in managing and maintaining Linux systems with expertise in NVIDIA GPU environments, automation, system performance tuning, and virtualization. This position is based onsite in Thuwal, Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver advanced Level 2 and Level 3 support for Linux operating systems, swiftly resolving complex technical issues.
• Troubleshoot a wide range of Linux OS problems, including boot sequence failures, kernel complications, system services, package management, software upgrades, and migrations.
• Conduct operating system patching, oversee vulnerability management initiatives, and apply robust system hardening techniques.
• Enhance and fine-tune system performance focusing on CPU, memory, storage components, as well as NVIDIA GPU workloads.
• Create and update automation scripts and configurations using Ansible, Puppet, Bash, and Python to streamline operations.
• Manage the infrastructure lifecycle via GitLab CI/CD pipelines and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies.
• Provide support for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) technologies such as SLURM workload manager, AWS DCV, Docker containers, and Kasm Workspaces.
• Configure and maintain specialized scientific runtime environments using Lmod or Environment Modules.
• Administer Linux endpoint agents including Automox for patch management, Nessus for vulnerability scanning, and Puppet for configuration management.
• Support network storage solutions such as NFS and SMB, and troubleshoot issues related to containerized workloads.
• Perform detailed root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring problems and implement automation to prevent future incidents.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams to address problems extending beyond the VDI technology stack.

Required Skills and Expertise

• Proficient Linux administration experience with Ubuntu LTS and Rocky Linux distributions.
• Hands-on knowledge of operating NVIDIA GPU-enabled Linux systems.
• Strong automation proficiency using Ansible, Puppet, and scripting with Bash and Python.
• Familiarity with Automox patch management tool and Nessus vulnerability scanner.
• Experience managing CI/CD workflows using GitLab and implementing Infrastructure as Code.
• Competence in containerization tools including Docker and Kasm Workspaces.
• Practical knowledge of VDI platforms such as SLURM and AWS DCV.
• Expertise in network file systems like NFS and SMB.
• Skills in Linux system patching, security hardening, and performance tuning.
• Ability to configure and maintain scientific runtime environments using Lmod or Environment Modules.
