About the Role

This opportunity is presented on behalf of a partner company based in the United Arab Emirates seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer. The role involves designing, building, and enhancing infrastructure solutions that support large-scale, customer-facing products.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of a core infrastructure product or subsystem from design through deployment, operation, and ongoing refinement.
• Set clear project goals, define measurable success criteria, align technical efforts with business objectives, and proactively identify potential risks.
• Convert product needs and technical requirements into practical designs that handle complex scenarios without unnecessary complexity.
• Develop and maintain secure, resilient, scalable, high-performance, and cost-effective infrastructure to support diverse workloads and applications.
• Create and deploy software and developer tools that enhance engineering productivity and reduce operational effort.
• Manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, primarily Terraform, ensuring architectural consistency.
• Collaborate with product engineering teams to design scalable services, clarify ambiguous requirements, and engage with stakeholders directly.
• Participate in incident response, using systematic troubleshooting methods to resolve issues within infrastructure and interconnected systems.
• Enhance monitoring and observability systems, using operational insights to drive improvements in stability, performance, and reliability.
• Adopt a security-first mindset by identifying and addressing vulnerabilities in own work and during peer reviews.
• Serve as a technical mentor and resource by guiding engineers through code reviews, pairing sessions, and design discussions.
• Promote collaboration across engineering and other stakeholders on architectural decisions, processes, and infrastructure priorities.

Required Qualifications

• 6 to 10 years of experience in infrastructure, platform, or backend engineering, predominantly with cloud-based systems, preferably AWS environments.
• Proven track record of owning significant infrastructure products, platform components, or subsystems from initial design through continuous operation and improvement.
• Comprehensive technical expertise with deep specialization in one or two infrastructure areas and broad knowledge across the technology stack.
• Advanced hands-on experience managing infrastructure via Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or similar.
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure essentials, including networking, load balancing, container orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS), and distributed systems design.
• Proficiency in programming with Go, Python, or an equivalent language to develop and maintain production-ready software.
• Direct operational experience with Redis or ElastiCache in production settings, including management of clusters, shards, failover, memory policies, and scalability strategies.
• Experience with observability frameworks such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or analogous systems; including performance optimization and incident management.
• Solid foundation in software engineering best practices: version control, code reviews, thorough testing, edge case management, and safe deployment approaches.
• Demonstrated high ownership and autonomy, with ability to work effectively in ambiguous or incomplete requirement scenarios.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities, capable of clearly articulating technical decisions and aligning teams and stakeholders.
• Fluency in written and spoken English, with experience in producing technical documentation, reviewing code, and communicating updates.
