Lead Software Engineer

BJAK develops technology solutions that serve millions across Southeast Asia. As the company expands its offerings and systems, there is a need for seasoned technical leaders to deliver complex engineering solutions and elevate the overall technical standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design and oversee the execution of significant products, systems, and engineering projects.
• Design scalable and dependable systems encompassing backend, frontend, APIs, databases, and infrastructure layers.
• Engage hands-on in development through coding, prototyping, reviewing code, debugging, and addressing production challenges.
• Make informed architecture decisions balancing factors such as speed, scalability, reliability, cost, and maintainability.
• Transform vague product challenges into defined technical solutions and actionable plans.
• Enhance engineering standards by improving system design, testing procedures, security, observability, and other best practices.
• Guide and mentor engineering teams across multiple functions and projects.

Candidate Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in software engineering with a proven record of delivering production-grade systems.
• Proficiency in backend, frontend development, distributed systems, APIs, databases, or cloud infrastructure.
• Exceptional system design and architectural capabilities for managing complex or large-scale systems.
• Strong coding skills with a passion for staying actively involved in hands-on engineering.
• Successful history of leading major engineering efforts from conceptual design stages through to production deployment.
• Competence in making prudent technical trade-offs, influencing peers, and resolving intricate production issues.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience scaling engineering teams, system architectures, or refining development workflows amid significant growth.
• Experience working across multiple product lines, geographical markets, or countries.

Additional Information

This role is fully remote, with team members distributed internationally and collaborating across multiple time zones.

Proficiency in English is essential as it serves as the primary language for global team communication.
