Overview
DXC Technology is looking for an experienced and technically skilled Lead iOS Engineer to head the development and architectural design of sophisticated native iOS applications. This role has a specialized focus on mapping, advanced visualization, graphics, and 3D rendering technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and develop complex native iOS apps with scalability and maintainability in mind.
- Implement modular, highly testable solutions using Swift and SwiftUI.
- Lead architecture and design reviews, conduct code evaluations, and promote engineering best practices.
- Create and enhance advanced mapping, visualization, graphics, and rendering features on iOS platforms.
- Develop custom rendering elements leveraging Core Graphics, Canvas, Path, Shape, and tailor-made rendering pipelines.
- Build map-oriented visualization systems utilizing overlays, annotations, layers, and interactive spatial functionalities.
- Implement coordinate systems, coordinate transformations, and user gesture handling like pan, zoom, and rotate.
- Design and apply overlay- and layer-based rendering structures and handle geometry operations such as clipping and path simplification.
- Analyze app performance and optimize using tools like Xcode Instruments.
- Develop 3D visualization capabilities employing SceneKit, RealityKit, or similar frameworks, applying concepts like transforms, matrices, quaternions, camera controls, and raycasting.
- Tackle complex rendering, memory, and architectural challenges to enhance app robustness.
- Collaborate closely with product management, UX/UI design teams, backend developers, and other stakeholders.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to iOS engineers while contributing to overall engineering strategies and standards.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in professional native iOS development.
- Expert proficiency with Swift and SwiftUI.
- Strong working knowledge of reactive programming frameworks such as Combine and RxSwift.
- Experience leading architecture, code quality reviews, and defining engineering best practices.
- In-depth understanding of scalable, maintainable, and modular iOS app architectures.
- Practical experience with custom visualization, mapping, graphics, and rendering features using Core Graphics, Canvas, Path, Shape, and custom pipelines.
- Comprehensive grasp of coordinate systems, transformations, geometry calculations, and spatial relationships.
- Proven ability to implement gesture-based interactivity (pan, zoom, rotate) and hit-testing within custom rendered content.
- Familiarity with overlay/layer rendering architectures and geometry operations such as clipping and path simplification.
- Strong debugging and performance profiling capabilities, especially with Xcode Instruments.
- Production experience with at least one modern iOS 3D rendering framework like SceneKit or RealityKit.
- Solid foundation in 3D graphics concepts including transformation matrices, quaternions, camera systems, raycasting, and coordinate space conversions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Metal-based rendering and performance tuning.
- Familiarity integrating 3D asset pipelines such as USDZ or glTF.
- Hands-on experience with ARKit technology.
- Background in robotics, SLAM, indoor mapping, LiDAR, navigation solutions, or digital twin platforms.
- Experience visualizing complex spatial data like robot-mapped environments, navigation paths, or floor plans.
- Expertise in geospatial or spatial computing application development.
- Ability to optimize graphics and rendering performance across a variety of iOS devices and hardware constraints.
