Overview
Qatar Airways invites applications for the position of Lead HR Separations Officer, located in Doha, Qatar. This pivotal role involves overseeing the entire employee separation process throughout the Qatar Airways Group while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will collaborate with multiple departments including HR, Payroll, IT, Finance, and Legal to optimize separation workflows, ensure compliance, and elevate the employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the daily operations of the HR Separations function, managing cases such as resignations, terminations, retirements, transfers, absconding, and deceased employee scenarios in a compliant manner.
- Oversee end-to-end separation procedures including approvals, communications, system updates, release documents, and final settlements ensuring accuracy and alignment with company policies.
- Validate final settlement figures, legal approvals, and other documentation to minimize financial and operational risks.
- Coordinate with Legal Affairs, Immigration, government bodies, embassies, and financial institutions to facilitate smooth employee separations.
- Serve as the main advisor for employees and stakeholders on separation-related inquiries covering policies, regulations, and settlement processes.
- Handle sensitive and confidential cases involving senior leadership with utmost discretion.
- Lead exit interviews for senior management to gather actionable feedback for business enhancements.
- Create and maintain detailed process documentation, operating procedures, and governance frameworks to standardize separation activities across the company.
- Initiate and drive process improvement projects to close operational gaps, simplify processes, and boost efficiency.
- Collaborate with HR Technology and IT teams to support system upgrades, define requirements, assist with testing, and enhance user experience.
- Develop operational reports, dashboards, and KPIs to monitor function performance and support informed decision-making.
- Investigate recurring operational challenges, perform root-cause analyses, and implement corrective solutions.
- Manage projects related to separation processes including timelines and stakeholder coordination for timely delivery.
- Ensure compliance with separation policies while fostering a culture focused on excellence and continual improvement.
Candidate Profile and Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent with at least 4 years of relevant professional experience.
- Proven background in HR Operations, Employee Relations, HR Shared Services, or a related HR function, preferably within complex and fast-moving environments involving comprehensive knowledge of HR policies and employment laws.
- Demonstrated experience in leading process transformation, continuous improvement, and change management activities including SOP development and governance.
- Strong analytical capabilities including root-cause problem solving and implementation of sustainable process solutions.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, formulas) and experience in creating dashboards and management reporting tools that aid business decisions.
- Competent in PowerPoint, able to effectively convert operational data into compelling presentations for executives.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, capable of influencing cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational skills with an ability to handle multiple priorities and deliver precise work within deadlines.
- Customer-oriented mindset combined with accountability and a commitment to excellence in service delivery.
- Ability to manage confidential, sensitive information with full professionalism and integrity.
- Preferred qualifications include experience supporting HR systems upgrades, process automation, system testing, and user acceptance evaluations.
- Familiarity with process improvement methodologies and operational excellence principles is advantageous.
- Experience working in diverse, multicultural, and service-focused organisations is desirable.
