Role Overview
The Lead Electrical Engineer will oversee and provide technical direction across the electrical aspects of major construction projects. This role involves guaranteeing designs, installations, and commissioning meet project specifications, industry standards, and best practices. Collaborating with project managers, consultants, subcontractors, and clients, the Lead will promote engineering excellence and mentor project engineers throughout the project lifecycle.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering efforts across assigned projects.
- Offer technical support, guidance, and mentorship to Electrical Project Engineers and on-site teams.
- Review and coordinate electrical design documents, specifications, calculations, and technical submissions.
- Conduct design reviews ensuring consistency between design intent and site execution.
- Identify and resolve technical challenges, design conflicts, and constructability issues.
- Manage RFIs, technical queries, engineering trackers, and design change processes.
- Assess equipment selections and supplier technical documents.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integration of electrical systems.
- Support project planning, procurement, commissioning, and handover phases.
- Perform technical audits, quality reviews, and system inspections during delivery.
- Ensure compliance with specifications, relevant standards, and company procedures.
- Assist Project Managers with engineering risk management and technical decisions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and engineering best practices.
- Establish strong client, consultant, subcontractor, and supplier relationships.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience managing electrical engineering packages in construction or building services.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in large-scale commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or advanced technology projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of power distribution, fire alarm, security systems, and electrical building services.
- Experience in design coordination, technical reviews, and multidisciplinary engineering interfaces.
- Electrical trade background is beneficial.
- Good understanding of testing, commissioning, and handover processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with Revit, BIM coordination, and digital engineering platforms is advantageous.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
