Lead Developer (NodeJS)

Role Overview

As a Lead Developer at Thoughtworks, you will serve as the key liaison for clients ensuring the successful delivery of projects. This role requires a strategic approach combined with tactical execution, collaborating closely with both clients and internal teams to transform technical visions into reality.

Responsibilities

• Promote the adoption of best software engineering practices including clean, reusable coding, Test-Driven Development (TDD), pair programming, and design patterns.
• Engage comprehensively in the software consulting and delivery lifecycle—from ideation through to production evolution.
• Lead strategic AI-first software development by integrating AI technologies thoughtfully throughout development to enhance quality, efficiency, and client innovation.
• Advocate for continuous delivery approaches to achieve early delivery of high-quality software and customer value.
• Design pragmatic solutions and select appropriate technologies addressing client challenges within existing constraints.
• Collaborate with teammates to create features, prototypes, and design concepts ensuring adherence to UX standards and best practices.
• Utilize the latest technological insights from Thoughtworks’ Technology Radar for effective problem-solving.
• Remain actively technical by coding alongside developers, ensuring practical engagement with the codebase.
• Champion DevSecOps practices including the deployment of software leveraging infrastructure automation and promoting a security-first culture during development.
• Foster a supportive and inclusive team environment, encouraging continuous feedback and professional growth among colleagues.

Qualifications

Technical Expertise:

• Over 10 years of total software development experience with deep expertise in Node.js and Object-Oriented programming.
• Proven leadership of software teams using Agile, Lean, and Continuous Delivery methodologies.
• Demonstrated exploration and strategic advocacy of emerging AI technologies, understanding their advantages and applying them thoughtfully within projects.
• Familiarity with delivery techniques such as TDD, continuous integration, pair programming, and infrastructure automation.
• Bonus: Experience with cloud platforms like AWS as well as containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
• Eagerness for continuous learning across emerging paradigms including functional programming, event-driven architecture, and platform engineering.
