Job description
Role Overview
The Lead Cloud Migration Architect is responsible for guiding the technical direction of a wave-based application migration and modernization program spanning Azure and AWS cloud platforms. Working collaboratively with the Project Delivery Lead, this role acts as the program's enterprise architect, ensuring the migration strategy and use of AI or tooling align with the customer's business requirements, governance policies, and architectural standards across application, infrastructure, data, and business domains. Close cooperation with the Security Lead guarantees secure architecture compliance.
Key Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive experience as an enterprise or lead architect managing large-scale, complex application migration initiatives involving Azure and AWS.
- Comprehensive expertise across application, infrastructure, data, security, and business architecture disciplines.
- Proven ability to deliver architecture solutions in high-security, regulated environments, such as government sectors.
- Experience in collaboratively owning the technical delivery outcome of customer-facing programs with clear role delineation alongside project delivery leadership.
- Demonstrated leadership of architectural teams covering assessment, strategy, and design phases, and coordination with specialized AI/Tools Architects.
Technical Competencies
- In-depth knowledge of Azure and AWS architecture patterns, migration frameworks, and the 7Rs migration strategies.
- Strong grasp of application, cloud infrastructure, and data architectures with sufficient security architecture understanding for close collaboration with security leadership.
- Awareness of FinOps principles and cloud cost optimization to advise customers' financial operations effectively.
- Expertise in AI-enabled migration tools and governance of integrating such technologies within regulated environments.
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks and Architecture Review Board governance procedures.
Leadership and Communication Skills
- Excellent relationship-building abilities, earning trust from customer architects and leadership teams.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills, capable of defending architectural decisions to Architecture Review Boards and security teams.
- Ability to lead and mentor a diverse architect team, while maintaining hands-on involvement with technical details.
- Sound judgement in balancing innovation, security, delivery speed, and cost considerations in architectural choices.
Mandatory Requirements
- Current NV1 Security Clearance.
- Enterprise or Solution Architecture certification such as TOGAF or equivalent.
