Labour Relations Specialist - EMEA

About the Role

This position is part of a dedicated HR compliance and employee relations team that ensures adherence to legal and regulatory standards within human resources. The role acts as a vital link between the company and employee representative bodies, particularly works councils, to promote compliance, enhance communication, and safeguard employee rights. The ultimate aim is to foster a fair, transparent, and supportive workplace environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage works council strategies in collaboration with global business partners, legal teams, and HR, identifying critical topics and communication needs for effective council management.
• Engage directly with works councils by participating in meetings onsite, building trustworthy relationships, leading or supporting negotiations on matters like IT updates and performance management, and preparing relevant documentation addressing employee concerns.
• Provide expert guidance to business leaders and HR business partners on co-determination and labor law issues, including creating HR compliance training as required.
• Work closely with global cross-functional teams on HR and works council projects, acting as the regional coordinator for EMEA implementation.
• Manage daily operational duties related to works council management, such as handling staff transactions across multiple sites, processing inquiries, organizing trainings, managing data requests, and refining internal systems and processes.

Qualifications

• At least five years of experience in human resources, specifically with local works council involvement in Germany.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, mediation, and strategic writing capabilities.
• Strong adaptability, growth mindset, and skills in conflict resolution.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced, cross-functional environments.
• Preferred: Experience in employment law or industrial relations, especially related to works councils.
• Preferred: Solid understanding of industrial relations, social dialogue, and labor laws across the EMEA region.
