Data Scientist - Trust & Safety

About the Team

The data science team within Trust & Safety aims to empower decisions using data to protect our user community. As a team member, you'll play a crucial role in defining projects, devising strategies, analyzing data for insights, diagnosing issues, and narrating compelling data stories. You will collaborate with various stakeholders from operations, policy, product, and engineering worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle and analyze large, complex data sets to support project workflows and strategic initiatives.
• Define and track essential metrics; conduct root cause analyses to identify performance drivers.
• Work closely with the global Trust & Safety teams to offer proactive insights, guidance, and oversee broader business directions.
• Drive stakeholder influence with data-based recommendations and engage cross-functional teams by effectively storytelling with data to generate business impact and innovation.
• Develop heuristics grounded in data and insights to anticipate and mitigate safety incidents proactively.
• Create metrics and visualization tools to assess platform risks and evaluate the effectiveness of safety interventions.

Required Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience in data science, analytics, or quantitative analysis.
• Proficiency in SQL, ETL processes, R or Python, Tableau, and Excel.
• Capabilities in building data infrastructure and deploying reporting solutions.
• Experience designing data visualizations to communicate metric trends effectively.
• Expertise independently designing, researching, developing, and applying machine learning/artificial intelligence solutions to business challenges including prediction, optimization, and segmentation; building evaluation systems to minimize errors and bias; identifying root causes related to model training data or context limitations.
• Strong quantitative problem-solving abilities coupled with excellent communication skills for conveying complex analytics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive business outcomes.
• A degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in online content platforms, Trust & Safety, or risk management.
• Familiarity working with international partners across different time zones.
• Demonstrated use of AI tools and emerging technologies to yield insights, enhance workflows, and develop new capabilities.
• A passion for social technology products and eagerness to learn and adapt within a fast-paced environment.
