Role Overview

As a Laboratory Technician in the Oil & Lubricants division, your main focus will be conducting chemical and physical analyses of oil, fuel, and coolant samples. These tests support the condition monitoring of heavy mining machinery, ensuring reliable and safe equipment operation. You will perform these analyses with precision, adhering to safety standards and swift turnaround requirements. Comprehensive training will equip you with knowledge of all relevant instruments, systems, and protocols.

Key Duties

  • Carry out chemical and physical testing on oil, fuel, and coolant specimens.
  • Utilize specialized laboratory instruments to perform various analytical procedures.
  • Enter sample information and test results accurately into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Comply with ALS Quality Work Instructions and maintain all QA/QC standards.
  • Follow laboratory safety guidelines and promote a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely delivery of dependable test outcomes.

Candidate Profile

  • Possess approximately 1 to 2 years of experience in an oil laboratory or manufacturing environment is advantageous.
  • Hold or be pursuing tertiary/polytechnic-level qualifications or accredited laboratory training.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to work ethics with a collaborative team approach.
  • Exhibit excellent communication, organizational, and time management capabilities.
  • Have the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and adapt rapidly to new technical skills.
  • Good computer proficiency; training for internal software systems will be provided.
  • Show meticulous attention to detail, ensuring high standards of quality.
  • Perform effectively under pressure in a dynamic laboratory setting.
