About the Role

Become part of ALS Food & Pharmaceutical’s dedicated team in Hamilton, New Zealand, serving as a full-time Laboratory Technician operating Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. This position offers an excellent chance for an individual with keen attention to detail, solid chemical knowledge, and a dedication to safety and quality.

The role involves supporting high-quality testing services through careful sample preparation, meticulous data recording, and diligent equipment upkeep aligned with approved methods, safety protocols, and quality standards. The incumbent ensures laboratory results are accurate, timely, and reliable while maintaining an organized, clean, and compliant work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize daily responsibilities to optimize productivity and meet turnaround deadlines.
  • Detect and report any unusual patterns or irregularities in sample results, behaviors, or types to supervisors.
  • Perform equipment calibration as needed and verify only approved instruments are used.
  • Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping standards within the lab environment.
  • Manage inventory of consumables necessary for assigned laboratory tasks.
  • Provide support to additional laboratory operations as required.

Candidate Profile

  • Have at least one year of practical laboratory experience; degree or diploma in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Possess solid chemical understanding and strong analytical capabilities.
  • Exhibit exceptional attention to detail with high accuracy standards.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in teams.
  • Show strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Have effective communication and interpersonal relation abilities.
  • Maintain a customer-oriented mindset with a commitment to workplace safety.
  • Be capable of successfully completing required technical assessments.
