Laboratory Technician

About the Role

Joining ALS Environmental as a Laboratory Technician means becoming part of a global team dedicated to advancing health through scientific testing and insightful data analysis. This role is essential in guaranteeing the precision and smooth operation of our lab testing procedures.

Key Duties

• Perform extraction and testing tasks following ALS Quality Work Instructions with strict adherence to QA/QC standards.
• Efficiently plan daily activities to meet deadlines and maintain quality benchmarks.
• Identify and report any irregularities in sample results to supervisory staff.
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness, regularly calibrate instruments, and conduct necessary calculations during analyses.
• Oversee laboratory supplies and assist with additional tasks as required.
• Operate only calibrated equipment while strictly following established quality procedures.
• Comply with ALS Health, Safety, and Environment policies, applicable state Occupational Health and Safety legislation, and safety guidelines.
• Take responsibility for lab safety by identifying and reporting any safety concerns and fostering a culture of safety awareness.

Candidate Requirements

• Possession of a tertiary qualification—degree or diploma—in science, preferably chemistry.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and thoroughness.
• Solid understanding of chemical concepts.
• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively in teams.
• Competence in organizing and planning workload effectively.
• Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities.
• A proactive attitude towards adhering to safety protocols.
• Appropriate competency demonstrated through allocated testing aptitude assessments.
• Physical ability to stand and move within the laboratory environment and safely lift or carry objects weighing up to 15 kilograms.

Working Conditions

This is a permanent, full-time position with dayshift hours either Monday to Friday or Tuesday to Saturday.
