Role Overview

The Kitchen Technician serves as a specialized mechanic responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial food service equipment within fast-paced environments such as hotels and restaurants. The role emphasizes preventing equipment downtime and ensuring compliance with food safety and health regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine maintenance on commercial kitchen appliances including ovens, grills, fryers, and dishwashers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and gas-related faults across kitchen equipment.
• Monitor and inspect refrigeration systems, walk-in coolers, and ventilation hoods for optimal performance.
• Replace malfunctioning components such as heating elements, thermostats, and gaskets efficiently.
• Ensure all equipment complies with local health, safety, and gas regulations.
• Provide emergency repairs promptly to minimize any disruption to kitchen operations.

Qualifications and Skills

• In-depth technical knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and gas systems relevant to commercial kitchen equipment.
• Possession of refrigeration certifications such as EPA Universal or equivalent local accreditation for handling refrigerants.
• Proficient with specialized hand tools, multimeters, and welding instruments, demonstrating good manual dexterity.
• Physical capability to handle heavy machinery and perform tasks in confined, hot environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills including the ability to interpret technical schematics and blueprints promptly.
