About the Role
Join our dedicated and welcoming team at a prestigious University of Cambridge college catering to mature students. Our kitchen serves daily meals for approximately 200 students and staff, including breakfast, lunch, evening meals, a full-day café service, and high-end hospitality. This permanent, full-time position operates year-round, 7 days a week, with a work schedule of 5 days per week and 40 hours weekly. The role offers free onsite parking as an added benefit.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the kitchen’s hygiene and cleanliness to meet our stringent high standards.
- Carry out pot washing duties to support kitchen operations efficiently.
- Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks when required.
- Clean and upkeep all kitchen equipment regularly, including heavy catering machines such as air filters and extraction systems, following proper cleaning guidelines.
- Operate industrial dishwashing machinery safely and effectively.
Candidate Profile
- Previous kitchen porter experience is advantageous but not essential.
- Proactive and positive attitude towards work responsibilities.
- Good organisational skills and ability to work well within a team.
- Basic verbal and written English communication skills necessary for understanding instructions and ensuring safety standards.
- Experience in food preparation or customer service environments is preferred.
