About the Role and Company
Araa Technologies, a Chennai-based IT startup specializing in Data Science and Data Analytics, partners with a US-based civil engineering consulting firm recognized for its excellence in water, wastewater, and stormwater design services. The client focuses on modeling and evaluating the risk conditions related to drinking water distribution mains, sewer systems, and stormwater drainage.
Water infrastructure challenges are significant. North America experiences a water main break every two minutes, costing over $3 billion annually in repairs. Globally, cities lose nearly 30% of their drinking water annually due to leaks and pipe failures, incurring around $4 billion per year. Wastewater utilities struggle to manage flows far beyond their original design capacity, resulting in flooding, water damage, economic losses, and public safety concerns.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct hydraulic and hydrology analyses across diverse projects.
- Review design elements related to water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
- Support project objectives by tracking milestones and monitoring progress.
- Assist in preparing technical specifications and cost estimates for stormwater-related design and planning ventures.
- Ensure the delivery of superior engineering outputs adhering to quality standards.
- Follow internal procedures for quality assurance, documentation, and project management.
- Contribute to project acquisition activities.
Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience ranging from entry level to three years in water resources engineering.
- Progressively responsible roles within the water resources sector.
- Proficiency in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software such as EPA-SWMM, PC-SWMM, InfoWorks ICM, EPA-NET, HEC-RAS, and HEC-HMS.
- Experience with GIS platforms, including QGIS, ArcPro, ArcMap, and other ESRI products.
- Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Capacity to collaborate effectively within teams.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
- Keen interest in learning and skill enhancement.
