About the Role

We are seeking a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team of one of Ireland's fastest-growing construction companies working on a prestigious pharmaceutical project in Athlone. This position offers a great chance for an early-career professional to gain substantive hands-on experience in cost management, procurement, contract administration, and commercial project delivery within a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the commercial team in managing the finances of a major pharmaceutical construction project.
  • Support preparation of cost reports, valuations, and payment applications.
  • Contribute to subcontractor and supplier procurement processes.
  • Prepare and issue necessary subcontract documentation.
  • Measure and assess the works completed by subcontractors.
  • Help prepare, negotiate, and finalize contract variations and final accounts.
  • Monitor and control project costs throughout its lifecycle.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records and project files.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, site teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure smooth communication and workflows.
  • Support tender preparation and commercial reporting activities as needed.
  • Gain exposure to managing complex, high-value commercial projects in construction.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Between one and three years of experience in a Quantity Surveying role or a relevant industry placement.
  • Strong commercial awareness and solid numerical competency.
  • Good understanding of construction contracts and principles of cost management.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with IT tools, especially Microsoft Excel and commercial management software.
  • A motivated and proactive individual eager to grow a career within Quantity Surveying.
  • Experience working within the Irish construction sector is preferred.
  • Exposure to pharmaceutical, industrial, or commercial project environments will be beneficial but is not mandatory.
