Junior Data Scientist (Generative AI)

Since 2016, we have been developing digital solutions to help customers find suitable rental cars swiftly, supporting them throughout every booking step digitally. We are now expanding internationally, adapting our products and processes for global customers to ensure sustainable growth beyond Germany.

Responsibilities

• Integrate as a core member of the AI team, collaborating closely with product management and IT while regularly coordinating with experienced data scientists across teams to share insights and introduce new approaches.
• Create innovative text- and language-based applications using Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) to enhance the international car rental comparison, including smart processing of customer inquiries and feedback and new interactive product options.
• Design solutions that support multiple languages and markets, considering linguistic and regional specificities to enable efficient expansion to additional countries.
• Lead features from concept through evaluation, development, integration, and stable operation, connecting APIs, databases, and pre-existing systems alongside product and IT teams.
• Implement repeatable testing and monitoring strategies to assess answer quality, reliability, runtime, and costs across diverse markets and increased usage. Compare models and techniques continuously, staying abreast of technical advancements and applying new methods that offer tangible improvements.

Candidate Profile

• Strong enthusiasm for Generative AI and LLMs, keeping up-to-date with new developments and eager to translate emerging technologies swiftly into customer-centric solutions.
• Excellent academic background in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related analytical-technical discipline.
• Hands-on experience developing LLM applications through academic, private, or professional projects, familiar with Context Engineering, integrating external data and systems, and evaluating multi-step processes with methodical approaches and justified technical choices.
• Advanced programming skills in Python, focused on writing clean, maintainable code beyond prototyping; proficient with Git, APIs, and system integration.
• Experience, ideally, with deploying applications using Docker and cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS, including managing databases, monitoring, and ensuring reliable production operation.
• Capability to analyze complex problems swiftly, appraise alternative technical solutions, and select pragmatic approaches that maximize customer value.
• Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration between product and IT teams, actively sharing knowledge and best practices with other data scientists at CHECK24.
• Fluency in German at negotiation level and good command of English, both written and spoken.
