About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Judges Personal Assistant to provide dedicated secretarial and administrative support to the Judges at Napier District Court. This permanent full-time position requires managing a broad range of tasks including supporting Judges' schedules, communications, and travel arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary liaison for the judiciary by managing all communications directed to Judges' Chambers.
- Maintain and coordinate Judges' diaries and appointments with precision.
- Organize Judges' travel and accommodation for court hearings, conferences, and seminars.
- Prepare and manage official documents such as judgments, court minutes, presentations, meeting minutes, and reports.
- Arrange venue bookings and catering services for conferences and official events.
- Provide assistance and support to visitors in the Chambers area.
- Operate autonomously with a strong sense of accountability within a geographically dispersed team.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience delivering executive, personal, or secretarial assistance in a busy, complex environment supporting multiple managers.
- Experience within a legal or court setting is advantageous.
- Ability to type accurately at a speed of at least 60 words per minute.
- Excellent command of written English, including spelling, punctuation, grammar, and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written, particularly in sensitive or challenging situations.
- Competence in general office operations and equipment handling.
- Proficiency with various computer-based secretarial, administrative, and presentation software.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, professionally, and with initiative.
- Strong organizational skills with a problem-solving approach, prioritizing tasks efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Capacity to remain composed under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Experience in liaison, especially with Maori communities, and networking skills.
- Background in event planning and coordination at senior levels is beneficial.

Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is from NZD 60,729 to 80,794. Salary offers will be commensurate with skills and experience, and higher rates within the band are available to attract outstanding candidates.
