Java Developer

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Java Developer for a 12-month contract role based in Galway, Ireland. This position requires onsite presence one week per month and offers a competitive daily rate of €500. The role involves working closely with a team to deliver strategic initiatives, with a strong emphasis on high quality and transparency in collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of solution quality and execution from inception through delivery.
• Engage actively in all stages of the Agile development lifecycle including design, coding, testing, and deployment.
• Understand and align technical work with business goals and objectives.
• Participate in architecture and technical design processes ensuring adherence to architectural standards.
• Communicate project progress, proactively identify risks or challenges, and escalate issues as needed.
• Adhere rigorously to established development standards and secure coding practices.
• Analyze existing workflows and recommend improvements to optimize processes.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in software engineering.
• Proficient in Java development with excellent coding skills.
• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns.
• Ability to independently conduct thorough technical and functional analyses.
• Committed to continuous improvement and quality assurance through test-driven development and automation.
• Experience working in an Agile environment using tools such as Jira.
• Detail-oriented with the capability to follow and establish comprehensive procedures.
• Effective multitasking skills and the ability to prioritize competing tasks.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and maintain positive relationships within diverse teams.
• Comfortable working within a matrixed structure across multiple locations and functional areas.
