Job Overview

The IT Supervisor will be responsible for managing daily technical operations within the hotel to ensure smooth functioning of all IT systems. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of hardware, software, networks, security, and hotel-specific IT applications.

Qualifications

  • University degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Programming, or a related discipline.
  • Certifications in networking, systems administration, cybersecurity, or Microsoft technologies are advantageous.
  • At least two years of relevant IT experience, preferably in the hospitality or hotel environment.
  • Prior roles such as IT Coordinator or IT Technician are preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge in hardware, software, networks, operating systems, hotel management systems, and IT security protocols.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day IT support across hotel departments to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Assist authorized users with troubleshooting and usage of hotel systems, computers, printers, telephone systems, network infrastructure, and other technical equipment.
  • Monitor performance and availability of IT infrastructure including servers, networks, Wi-Fi, workstations, and related systems.
  • Coordinate repair, replacement, and timely servicing of malfunctioning IT hardware and systems.
  • Perform regular system and data backups in compliance with company and hotel policies.
  • Assist with system and data recovery in case of hardware/software failures.
  • Liaise with vendors and service providers concerning software issues, faults, enhancement requests, and technical support cases.
  • Support implementation and upkeep of hotel operational systems including Property Management Systems (PMS), Point of Sale (POS), and other integrated applications.
  • Maintain IT security measures to prevent unauthorized access, data breaches, malware, and other cybersecurity threats.
  • Manage creation, modification, and revocation of user accounts and system access per authorization guidelines.
  • Keep detailed records of hardware, software, licenses, warranties, and system access.
  • Assist with system upgrades, installations, configurations, and deployment of new technologies.
  • Ensure procedures for emergency and contingency scenarios are prepared to maintain hotel operations during system/network failures.
  • Provide technical support during audits as needed.
  • Collaborate with departments to understand operational IT needs and deliver effective technical solutions.
  • Maintain accurate IT documentation including system configurations, inventories, policies, procedures, licenses, and maintenance records.
  • Monitor and maintain IT inventory, supplies, and consumables, coordinating replenishment as necessary.
  • Track technical incidents, support requests, remedial actions, and recurring system problems.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for maintenance, repairs, and support services.
  • Prepare reports and updates related to IT operations for management.
  • Deliver professional and prompt technical assistance, ensuring issues are resolved effectively with consistent follow-up.
  • Communicate technical information clearly to users with varying technical backgrounds.
  • Address guest-related technology issues courteously and efficiently where applicable.
  • Build and maintain positive and professional relationships with colleagues, management, vendors, and external partners.
  • Provide guidance and basic training to employees for effective use of hotel technology.
  • Support management with IT budgeting, including information on equipment, maintenance, licensing, and system needs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and prolong IT asset life without compromising security or operations.
  • Uphold confidentiality for hotel, guest, employee, and business information at all times.
  • Stay informed about developments in IT, cybersecurity, hotel systems, and industry best practices.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and compliance with hotel standards including personal grooming and conduct.
  • Adapt effectively to technology changes, operational needs, and organizational IT requirements.
  • Comply with hotel policies, particularly regarding data security, confidentiality, health and safety, and emergency procedures.
  • Participate in required training, department meetings, and other organizational activities.
  • Contribute to IT projects, system upgrades, and technology initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by management.
