About the Team
The Enterprise Planning and Implementation group was recently established to enhance coordination and prioritization across WorkSafe. The Regulatory Intelligence team supports informed decision-making by converting data and insights into impactful intelligence that guides regulatory focus.
Role Overview
The Intelligence Analyst, Regional position involves providing actionable operational intelligence that assists frontline inspectorate activities within a specified region. This role focuses on analyzing diverse data sources to identify potential risks and trends, creating clear intelligence products to guide prioritized regulatory actions.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret operational data to detect regional risks and emerging trends.
- Create intelligence products to aid in regulatory targeting and prioritization.
- Communicate complex analyses into practical intelligence for inspectors and leadership.
- Maintain strong partnerships with inspectors and stakeholders to track regulatory challenges.
- Deliver timely intelligence assistance supporting regional regulatory operations.
- Generate operational reports and dashboards for effective decision-making.
- Highlight significant issues requiring organizational attention.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data to produce valuable insights.
- Strong critical thinking skills and comfort working with incomplete or ambiguous information.
- Proficiency in drafting clear, organized reports or intelligence documents.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and manage stakeholder requests effectively.
- Excellent relationship-building and engagement capabilities.
- Background in intelligence, regulatory, or public sector environments is preferred.
- Possession or pursuit of relevant qualifications in intelligence analysis or related fields is advantageous.
Additional Information
- Three fixed-term positions available for 12 months each.
- We welcome inter-agency secondments with managerial approval.
- Preferred locations: Hamilton, Napier, or Christchurch; open to other WorkSafe locations.
- Legal eligibility to live and work in New Zealand is mandatory.

Salary and Benefits
Salary range from NZD 83,137 to NZD 108,442 annually, plus employer contributions to KiwiSaver/SSRSS. From April 2026, KiwiSaver contributions increase to 3.5%.
