Role Overview
The Intelligence Analyst position within the Family Violence Investigation Unit (FVIU) is crucial for enhancing intelligence support at both divisional and tactical levels, aimed at effectively addressing severe family violence offenses. The Analyst reports directly to the Officer in Charge of the FVIU.
Key Duties
- Support family violence investigations by collecting and analyzing relevant information.
- Prioritize Family Violence reports to identify incidents or individuals requiring FVIU management.
- Provide well-informed recommendations based on intelligence and statistical analysis, including identifying contributing factors to Family Violence incidents.
- Recognize and assess emerging trends and patterns in family violence cases.
- Identify, evaluate, and report on specific persons of interest tied to investigations.
- Monitor individuals released from custody, assessing their management needs to mitigate family violence risks.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external sources of information related to Victoria Police operations.
Candidate Profile
- Proficiency in computer systems and software applications.
- Demonstrated analytical and criminal intelligence skills.
- Thorough understanding of Family Violence policies, practices, and support services.
- Self-driven with the capability to work independently and take initiative.
- Strong teamwork skills to collaboratively reduce harm and achieve team objectives.
Additional Details and Employment Terms
- One full-time ongoing position, 38 hours per week.
- Salary range VPS3: $81,496 to $98,955 annually plus superannuation.
- Primary workplace at Barwon MDC, 59–63 Spring Street, Geelong West, with potential assignments across Western Region Division 1.

- Pre-employment screening including fingerprint and misconduct checks is required.
- National security vetting and maintenance of a security clearance as mandated by department leadership are expected; applicants must be Australian citizens.
