Role Overview

The Intellectual Property Manager will drive the development, protection, and strategic use of MiRXES' intellectual property assets. This includes managing IP related to molecular diagnostics, biomarkers, assay technologies, software algorithms, data-centric products, and related platforms. Collaborating across R&D, clinical, regulatory, bioinformatics, business development, and external legal counsel, the manager will oversee patent strategy, filings, prosecution, and freedom-to-operate analyses to safeguard innovations and create lasting competitive advantages.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulate and execute a comprehensive IP strategy aligned with MiRXES' business and market expansion objectives.
• Maintain and optimize an IP portfolio covering patents, trade secrets, know-how, and other assets.
• Identify and evaluate new inventions across biomarkers, assays, software, AI/ML, bioinformatics, and platform technologies.
• Review and prioritize patent filings, jurisdictional coverage, and protection approaches.
• Lead invention disclosure processes and collaborate with inventors and external counsel on patent preparation, filing, prosecution, and maintenance.
• Manage all patent-related documentation, deadlines, and responses to office actions.
• Conduct and support patent landscape studies, competitor analysis, and freedom-to-operate assessments.
• Identify IP risks and implement mitigation strategies considering development, commercialization, partnerships, and market entry.
• Monitor industry IP trends in diagnostics, genomics, and digital health sectors.
• Support licensing, technology transfer, due diligence, and contractual agreements involving IP terms.
• Draft, review, and advise on IP provisions within collaboration, research, confidentiality, and commercial agreements.
• Track and ensure compliance with IP and licensing obligations, including renewals and deliverables.
• Develop and refine internal IP policies, processes, templates, and tracking tools.
• Provide IP training and guidance on invention capture, confidentiality, publication reviews, and trade secret protection.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external providers to maintain effective IP management and reporting systems.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, molecular biology, biotechnology, genomics, biomedical sciences, chemistry, engineering, law, or related fields mandatory; advanced degrees (PhD, JD, or equivalent IP/legal credentials) preferred.
• 5 to 10 years of experience in intellectual property management, patent strategy, technology transfer, patent prosecution, or legal IP operations.
• Background in molecular diagnostics, genomics, medtech, biotech, precision medicine, or healthcare technology sectors strongly favored.
• Proven ability in working with external counsel and managing multi-jurisdictional patent portfolios.
• Experience with inventions related to biomarkers, assays, clinical diagnostics, software/bioinformatics, AI/ML healthcare tools, or regulated medical products highly desirable.
• Familiarity with licensing, collaborations, due diligence, and freedom-to-operate evaluations valued.
• Strong knowledge of patent filing and prosecution especially in Singapore, US, Europe, China, and other relevant jurisdictions.
• Understanding of patentability criteria, novelty, inventive step, enablement, infringement risk, and freedom-to-operate concepts.
• Capability to interpret and translate complex scientific ideas into IP and commercial contexts clearly.
• Excellent project management skills to juggle multiple tasks, deadlines, and external relationships effectively.
• Proficient analytical, drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• High discretion in managing confidential scientific, clinical, business, and strategic information.
• Adaptability to thrive in an innovative, fast-moving, cross-functional organizational environment.
