About the Role
Sandvik Mining in Lae, Papua New Guinea is looking for a skilled Import and Export Clerk to manage and streamline import and export operations ensuring smooth customs clearance and compliance throughout Papua New Guinea.
Key Duties
- Oversee and coordinate customs clearance for all inbound and outbound shipments.
- Collaborate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and shipping agents to facilitate timely delivery and clearance of goods.
- Address and resolve issues related to customs, freight, documentation discrepancies, damages, and non-conformities.
- Prepare and update import/export documentation aligning with Papua New Guinea customs regulations.
- Monitor priority shipments closely, providing regular status updates to relevant parties.
- Assist in customs audits by supplying necessary documents and information.
- Handle repair and return shipments complying with customs standards.
- Track and resolve delays in aging shipments by coordination with freight handlers and warehouses.
- Manage stock return exports to suppliers and help process corresponding credit notes.
- Support the Finance department with import documentation for supplier invoice payments.
- Maintain precise customs and shipping records while adhering to company policies.
- Contribute to workplace safety, ethics, and high performance by complying with Sandvik's Code of Conduct and Health, Safety, and Environment norms.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of four years’ expertise in customs clearance, freight forwarding, logistics, or related roles.
- In-depth knowledge of import/export laws and customs documentation.
- Experience interfacing with customs brokers, freight providers, and government bodies.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
- Familiarity with ERP platforms such as SAP, Aurora, or equivalents.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
