HVAC / ICWS Technician

Position Overview

The HVAC/ICWS Technician is tasked with operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and Industrial Control & Water Systems at the Al Udeid Air Base. This position ensures consistent and reliable environmental and water system operations compliant with U.S. military standards, safety rules, and host-country mandates.

Core Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, service, and repair diverse commercial and industrial HVAC equipment such as chillers, air handling units, rooftop units, split systems, and control systems.
• Identify and address mechanical, electrical, and control issues related to HVAC systems through corrective maintenance.
• Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance based on established timetables and technical documentation.
• Continuously monitor HVAC system operations and propose enhancements for improved efficiency and dependability.
• Manage and upkeep industrial control systems linked to potable water, wastewater, and related pumping and distribution resources.
• Oversee SCADA and Building Management System (BMS) interfaces, reacting promptly to alarms or irregular system behavior.
• Perform inspections, tests, and minor repairs on system components including valves, pumps, sensors, and controls.
• Support water system sampling, flushing, and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
• Maintain detailed maintenance records, generate reports, and document work orders accurately.
• Adhere strictly to safety, environmental protocols, and force protection measures.
• Coordinate activities with engineers, supervisors, and base staff to meet operational requirements.
• Respond to emergencies, provide after-hours support, and remain available for on-call duties when needed.
• Ensure work environments, tools, and equipment are safe and properly maintained.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent educational credential.
• At least five years of hands-on experience maintaining and repairing commercial and industrial HVAC/Refrigeration systems and Industrial Chilled Water Systems (ICWS).
• Possess a current EPA Universal Certification.

Knowledge and Skills

• Proficient in operating industrial control systems and water treatment or distribution systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and control diagrams effectively.
• Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting and problem resolution.

Additional Criteria

• Must hold a valid United States Driver’s License.
• Possession of a valid United States passport is preferable.
• Eligibility to secure and maintain a Residency Visa for Qatar is required.
• Capability to endure harsh environmental conditions, including exposure to dust, extreme heat, and adverse weather.
• Physical resilience to work extended hours under demanding conditions and potential hazardous situations.

Travel and Security Requirements

This position requires full-time deployment to the location with 100% travel to the operational site. Candidates must currently have and maintain an active Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance.
