About Transpower New Zealand
Transpower serves as the owner and system operator of New Zealand's National Grid, transporting high voltage electricity from generation points to cities, towns, and major industrial customers across the country. Role Overview
This is an 18-month fixed-term opportunity within the People team at Transpower in Wellington. As one of two HR Coordinators, you will work closely as a team providing integrated, efficient, and customer-focused administrative and coordination support for recruitment and broader HR functions. Your efforts will contribute directly to smooth processes, positive candidate experiences, and effective HR service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail and accuracy in administrative and coordination duties.
- Support recruitment operations including candidate experience and onboarding processes.
- Provide first point of contact for general HR and People queries, ensuring timely and appropriate responses.
- Collaborate widely with employees, managers, HR colleagues, and external applicants to facilitate HR activities.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HR best practices and policies.
Candidate Requirements
- Prior experience in HR or recruitment coordination and administration.
- Relevant tertiary qualification such as psychology, law, sociology, commerce, or related disciplines.
- Proficiency with IT systems, including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and preferably applicant tracking, payroll or ERP systems.
- Understanding or exposure to HR and recruitment policies, legislation, and privacy standards.
- Capable of balancing multiple tasks effectively with excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills with experience managing internal and external stakeholder expectations.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing business needs while following established policies.
Work Environment and Additional Details
The HR Coordinator roles are office-based in Wellington to foster relationships, support learning, deliver outcomes, and strengthen organizational culture. The team coordinates start and finish times to effectively cover the workday.
