Role Overview
This position involves working closely within residential children's homes that support young people with social, emotional, and mental health challenges. The housekeeper plays a vital role in creating a supportive and nurturing environment, contributing daily to the wellbeing and progress of the children under care. This role is rewarding with impactful moments, requiring dedication through highs and lows alike.
Work Hours and Salary
The standard working week is Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:30pm. The salary ranges from 31,066 to 31,969, which includes allowances for good attendance, along with additional benefits described below.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure children's homes are kept clean, tidy, and welcoming to provide a comfortable living space.
- Prepare and serve healthy, nutritious meals to children and staff.
- Assist with laundry duties to maintain hygiene standards.
- Create an environment where young people feel safe, supported, and engaged in daily activities and social development.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
Applicants need not have prior experience but must demonstrate a positive, can-do attitude and strong teamwork skills. Empathy and a genuine care for the children and colleagues are essential. The role demands resilience to handle challenging situations.
- Desirable qualifications include food hygiene and nutrition certifications.
- Ability to plan and cook nutritious meals for multiple children and staff.
- Commitment to maintaining high cleaning standards.
- Possession of a full UK driving license held continuously for at least 12 months.
