Job Overview
The Room Attendant is an essential member of the hospitality team tasked with maintaining cleanliness and order throughout guest rooms, public areas, and other assigned spaces. Their efforts contribute significantly to positive guest experiences and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and organize guest rooms according to set standards, including dusting, vacuuming, changing linens, and making beds.
- Thoroughly sanitize bathrooms, including fixtures, surfaces, and provided amenities.
- Dust and wipe furniture, surfaces, and decorative pieces in guest rooms and public spaces.
- Restock supplies such as towels, toiletries, and linens in guest rooms.
- Empty trash bins and replace liners in both guest rooms and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in various hotel areas including guest rooms and hallways.
- Identify and report any maintenance concerns or needed repairs to the proper personnel.
- Monitor for and report lost items found in guest rooms or public areas to supervisors.
- Engage professionally with guests, addressing their inquiries and requests when needed.
- Maintain guests' privacy and uphold security standards by following prescribed procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Prior housekeeping or similar experience is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail with knowledge of proper cleaning methods, chemicals, and equipment.
- Ability to work efficiently and independently to complete assigned tasks including room cleaning and organizing carts.
- Effective communication skills to interact well with guests and team members.
- Basic knowledge of safety and sanitation standards.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
This role involves significant physical activity such as prolonged standing and walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds. Some duties occur indoors within hotel environments involving various equipment and machinery. The job entails exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dirt, fumes, smoke, odors, and loud noise. Adherence to safety guidelines and use of protective equipment are essential.
