Job Overview

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for processing, washing, drying, ironing, and accurately folding linens and various textile items while adhering strictly to organizational policies, brand standards, and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. It is essential to promptly inform management of any emergencies, accidents, injuries, lost articles, damages, equipment issues, or safety concerns.

Key Responsibilities

• Sort, wash, dry, fold, and press linens including towels and bed sheets following established protocols.
• Operate laundry machinery such as washers, dryers, ironing presses, and folding tables safely and correctly.
• Inspect items for quality assurance, identifying and addressing stains, tears, or other defects with care, especially when handling delicate fabrics.
• Maintain organized inventory of clean linens and towels ensuring adequate availability for guest rooms, dining, and event areas.
• Monitor linen counts, reorder points, and replenishment schedules meticulously.
• Clean and perform basic maintenance on laundry equipment, reporting any malfunctions to the relevant department.
• Adhere strictly to safety practices when using laundry machines.
• Work collaboratively with housekeeping staff and other hotel departments to ensure a continuous supply of freshly laundered items.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Prior experience performing laundry operations, preferably in a hotel or hospitality context.
• Understanding of various fabric types, laundering methods, and proper garment care.
• Exceptional attention to detail to detect stains, damage or quality concerns.
• Familiarity with laundry machinery and equipment.
• Strong organizational skills able to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Physical ability to perform repetitive duties and lift loads up to 50 pounds.
• Commitment to maintaining hygiene and cleanliness.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This job requires physical exertion such as standing and walking for extended periods, bending, climbing, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and lifting heavy items up to 50 pounds. Work usually takes place indoors with exposure to laundry machines and chemicals. Staff may be subject to loud noises, unpleasant odors, heat or cold, dirt, and fumes. Following safety protocols and using protective equipment is mandatory.
