Hotel Duty Manager

About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on Duty Manager for our Southend Airport Premier Inn. This full-time position involves 40 hours of work per week with compensation up to 3.86 per hour. As Duty Manager, you will actively engage in supporting all hotel departments, ensuring guests have an outstanding experience while leading your team effectively on the floor rather than from behind a desk.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage shifts across reception, housekeeping, and restaurant areas with thorough pre-shift briefings.
• Provide ongoing coaching and support to team members throughout your shift.
• Assist guests by resolving queries and addressing any issues promptly.
• Step in to assist various departments to keep the hotel running seamlessly during peak times.
• Identify potential problems early and implement solutions quickly.
• Maintain guest safety and ensure operational standards are upheld.
• Collaborate closely with the Hotel Manager and wider leadership team.

Candidate Profile

Previous hotel industry experience is not required. Successful candidates often come from backgrounds such as retail, supermarkets, restaurants, pubs, leisure, healthcare, or customer service. Leadership experience in roles like Team Leader, Supervisor, Shift Manager, or Assistant Manager in busy customer-facing environments is highly valued. The ideal candidate is decisive, enjoys helping others, remains collected under pressure, and leads by example.

Work Schedule and Location

The role includes shifts during evenings, weekends, and busy guest periods at Thanet Grange, Southend-on-Sea, Essex, SS2 6GB.
