Host/Hostess

Overview

This position is located at The Pearl Island, Doha, Qatar, within the Food and Beverage and Culinary sector. The Host/Hostess role involves welcoming guests and managing seating arrangements in a busy dining environment. The job requires ensuring the dining area is well-prepared, menus are current and clean, and guests receive courteous assistance throughout their visit.

Primary Duties

• Welcome guests and identify the size of their party.
• Assign seating by locating clean tables, arranging chairs, and placing updated menus before guests.
• Guide guests through the dining facility and offer assistance as needed.
• Adjust seating arrangements for groups requiring special accommodations.
• Ensure table settings are complete with napkins, clean silverware, and standard dining items.
• Inspect menus regularly to keep them clean, plentiful, and free from wrinkles.
• Maintain cleanliness in work areas by adopting clean-as-you-go practices throughout the shift.
• Keep an eye on dining room availability and guest comfort, safety, and overall experience.
• Follow company safety and security policies, report incidents or unsafe conditions, and complete required safety training.
• Uphold professional appearance and confidentiality of company information, while safeguarding assets.
• Use clear, professional communication with guests and colleagues, including proper telephone etiquette.
• Collaborate with team members to meet shared objectives and respond appropriately to fellow employees' concerns.
• Comply with quality standards and company expectations continuously.
• Physically, be prepared to stand, sit, or walk for lengthy periods and handle objects up to 10 pounds safely.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent G.E.D.
• No prior related work experience required.
• No supervisory experience necessary.
• No specific licenses or certificates needed.
