About Al-Futtaim Healthcare
With origins dating back to the 1930s as a trading business, Al-Futtaim Group has evolved into a leading, diversified private enterprise across the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, employing over 35,000 people. Their business is segmented into automotive, financial services, real estate, retail, and healthcare divisions, partnering with more than 200 top global brands. The organization emphasizes values of respect, excellence, collaboration, and integrity, continuously enhancing customer satisfaction and responsiveness to societal needs.
Al-Futtaim Health operates the HealthHub Clinics chain, offering multispecialty healthcare with advanced diagnostics and over 25 specialties, supported by rigorous quality standards, including Accreditation Canada’s Gold Seal.
Role Overview
The Healthcare Data Scientist position based at Al-Futtaim’s HealthHub Corporate Office in Dubai Festival City focuses on leveraging machine learning and clinical analytics to improve healthcare outcomes through predictive modeling and AI-driven clinical decision support. This specialist role is dedicated to transforming complex healthcare data into actionable insights by building, validating, and deploying predictive models—not merely reporting or dashboards.
Responsibilities
- Develop, train, and validate predictive machine learning models addressing clinical risk, patient outcomes, utilization patterns, readmission risks, claims analytics, revenue cycle, and improvement of care pathways.
- Analyze diverse healthcare datasets including electronic health records (EHR), claims, pharmacy, laboratory results, clinical activities, and operational data.
- Apply rigorous statistical methods and machine learning algorithms, such as logistic regression, survival analysis, classification, clustering, random forest, and XGBoost.
- Create analytical datasets through advanced SQL techniques involving cohort construction, complex joins, window functions, longitudinal patient data management, feature engineering, and data quality assurance.
- Utilize healthcare standards and coding systems including ICD-10/11, CPT, SNOMED CT, LOINC, HL7, and FHIR in data processing and model development.
- Collaborate with clinicians, medical directors, operations, finance, IT, and compliance to translate data science outputs into clinical and operational workflows.
- Assess model performance with metrics like AUC, precision, recall, F1 score, sensitivity, specificity, calibration, and interpretability methods.
- Ensure adherence to healthcare data privacy, ethical AI principles, and governance policies.
Candidate Requirements
- Currently living in the UAE.
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, Biomedical Engineering, Health Informatics, or related quantitative fields.
- Between 2 to 5 years of experience in data science, with at least 2 years working with healthcare data, clinical analytics, or health-tech.
- Demonstrated practical expertise in developing predictive and machine learning models using healthcare-specific datasets.
- Proficient in advanced Python or R programming for data science tasks including machine learning and statistical modeling.
- Strong command of complex SQL queries for data extraction, cohort building, and analytical processing.
- Knowledgeable about healthcare data standards and interoperability coding such as ICD, CPT, SNOMED CT, LOINC, HL7, and FHIR.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively present technical findings to clinical and leadership teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD degree in Health Data Science, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, or related disciplines.
- Familiarity with UAE healthcare regulations such as DHA, NABIDH, Malaffi, and data residency mandates.
- Experience within hospital networks, clinics, health insurance, or health-tech sectors.
- Knowledge of clinical decision support systems.
- Experience using explainability tools like SHAP or LIME to interpret models.
- Familiarity with visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Plotly, or Dash for communicating results.
Who Should Not Apply
This role is unsuitable for candidates whose experience is limited to reporting, BI dashboards, Excel-based reporting, SQL data extraction without modeling, descriptive analytics only, claims audit reporting, or general business intelligence without machine learning development.
